What is welding?
Welding has been a trade of human culture dating all the way back to the early 1800’s. In fact, the products that come out of welding can be seen throughout society today in architecture and more, furthermore, over 50% of all man-made products need to be welded to be made. This includes architecture, cars/automotives, planes, trains, and many more man-made products.
So what exactly is welding? Welding means to join metal or different kinds of parts together when the surface of those parts are heated enough to be molded together. This is done by using a blow torch or a tool known as an electric arc and through other means of heating the object to it’s melting point.
Careers in Welding
Welding is a career that always has a need for people who have this skill. As of 2018, there were over 424,700 jobs in welding across the United States according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In addition, the Bureau of Labor Statistics states that the median wage of employees in this occupancy is $41,000 each year.
A career in welding isn’t limited to molding car parts together, some people with this talent take it even further and get creative with it. Welders can display an artistic side to their skill set as well through making different objects such as metal figurines, metal animals, or other metal objects and selling their work or even displaying them in art museums.
